Wonders of the Water Tour – 4 Days 3 Nights
Day 1
Check in to your hotel, get settled and then meet your guide for a cruise on the Perdido Queen Paddle Wheel Boat. We will cruise on the Mobile River and you will have a good look at the Port of Mobile. We are the ninth largest port in the Nation. You will see ships loading and unloading their cargoes. Dinner is served. (Certain days of the week). Return to your hotel and have a good night sleep, we will have a busy day tomorrow.
Day 2
Breakfast is served in the hotel dining area. Board your coach and depart for Bayou La Batre, a quaint fishing village. We will stop at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. You will be stunned by the beauty of the stained glass windows. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Depart for Dauphin Island. Arrive at the Estuarium. Your guide will take you through the exhibit hall. The presentation includes, the most important features of the Mobile Bay Ecosystem, beginning with the Mobile Tensaw River Delta. Mobile Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Barrier Islands. The delta is one of the largest of the contiguous 48 states. Go through the aquarium and take the boardwalk along the Living Marsh. The signage provides details about the natural history of the Alabama marshes, geography and the area, and the evolution of the Barrier Islands. Short Walk to Fort Gaines. Built in the 1800’s, it guards the western side of Mobile Bay, where a famous naval battle was fought during the War Between the States, where Admiral David Farragut uttered the immortal words, Dam the Torpedoes. Go Ahead” (yes, he really said that). Return to the comfort of your hotel and dinner TBA.
Day 3
Breakfast if served in the hotel dining area. This Morning we will go to Fiver Rivers –Alabama’s Delta Resource center. Adventures exist inside or out at Fiver Rivers. Explore Alabama’s rich natural history in the Apalachee Exhibit Hall. Take virtual tours in the Tensaw Theater. If you wanted to you can rent a Canoe and paddle back in time on the Alabama’s Bartram Canoe Trail. The Museum has an exhibit of all kind of animals, bears, dear, snakes, spiders, and many more that I have seen but too many to tell you about, and you can even hold some if you like. Lunch will be at one of our seafood restaurants located on Mobile Bay. Return to the hotel. Dinner TBA. This evening we will do something quite different. We will meet some of Mobile’s most ghostly spirits. As you ride through the darkly lite streets you will meet these spirits as they get on your motor coach and tell you their stories. There will be some surprises along the way.
Day 4
Breakfast in the hotel dining area, bags out, check out and ready to depart for home.
